In November 2019, bio&bio presented Croatian organic producers whose products were stocked in its stores. As a partner of HR eko forum, it supported the development of local organic products. Its range at the time included more than a thousand Croatian fresh and processed products.
Behind mandarins from Opuzen, carob from Komiža, bread and pastries from Zrno Organic Estate, wines, juices, spreads and soya products were certified producers and family farms. Jadranka Boban Pejić highlighted the importance of development partnerships that strengthen local markets and bring added value to customers.
The people behind local organic products
The original post featured stories from OPG Veselić, Zrno Organic Estate, Vina Roki, Annapurna, OPG Prović, OPG Božanić, OPG Petrović and Smid. Their different experiences shared a commitment to developing organic farming and processing.
OPG Veselić described shifting the family farm towards organic production, beginning with strawberries. OPG Božanić explained the motivation to certify locally grown carob, while OPG Prović discussed the transition to organic mandarin growing. Annapurna and Smid spoke about developing production and long-term partnerships.
David Pejić presented Zrno’s biointensive no-till garden, a system without soil tillage designed to improve working conditions and production sustainability. The estate connected farming with bread, pastry and preserved vegetable production, as well as education.
Quality, product integrity and verification of organic status remained common requirements for bio&bio partnerships, regardless of country of origin. Product range and partner information in this post refer to 2019.
